Make a People of Action Image for Your Club

Turn a project photo into an on-brand People of Action visual sized for Facebook, your website, or print — then share it or send it to the district.

People of Action is Rotary's public image campaign: a strong photo of Rotarians at work, paired with a short message such as "Together, we fight hunger." The district's POA Image Maker puts the official People of Action lockup on your own photo, so every club can post visuals that look consistent without design software.

The tool walks you through five short screens: upload a photo, choose a message, pick a size, position the photo, then save or share. Everything happens in your browser. Nothing is sent to the district unless you choose "Submit to District" at the end.

What to have ready

Step by step

  1. 1

    Upload your photo

    1 minute

Open the POA Image Maker and tap "Choose photo." On a computer you can also drag and drop a file onto the box. On a phone you can pick from your camera roll or take a new photo.

Once the photo loads you will see "Photo loaded" with a small preview. Tap "Use a different photo" to swap it, or "Next" to continue. The "Next" button stays grayed out until a photo is loaded.

    • Accepted formats: JPG, PNG, WebP and HEIC.
    • iPhone HEIC photos are converted automatically — you may briefly see "Converting your iPhone photo…"

If you see "That HEIC photo couldn't be read," pick the photo from your Photos app instead of the Files app, or export it as a JPG first.

  2. 2

    Choose your message

    1 minute

Tap the card that best fits your project. Your photo previews with that message right away, so you can try a few before deciding.

The built-in messages are Learn, Celebrate, Connect, Empower, End Polio, Fight Hunger, Inspire, Promote Peace, Save Lives and Transform — each reads "Together, we …" on the finished image.

    • A feeding program fits Fight Hunger; a medical mission fits Save Lives; a charter anniversary fits Celebrate.
    • The district may add or hide messages from time to time, so the cards you see can differ slightly from this list.
  3. 3

    Pick a size

    1 minute

Choose where the image will be used. Each size matches an official Rotary template, and the pixel size is shown on each option.

    • Square (1:1) — 1080 × 1080. Classic square that works everywhere.
    • Social Media Post — 2000 × 1501. For your club's Facebook page.
    • Digital Banner — 2000 × 625. For a website header or newsletter banner.
    • Print Ad — 2000 × 2588. For local media or community bulletin boards; suitable for postcard or half-page magazine print at about 300 DPI.

If you see a yellow note saying the square overlay is being stretched to fit, that message has no artwork for this size yet and the lockup may look distorted. Pick another size or message, or use Square.

  4. 4

    Position your photo

    1–2 minutes

Drag the photo on the preview to move it, and use the "Zoom" slider to zoom in or out. Keep faces and the action clear of the People of Action lockup.

Tap "Reset position" to go back to the original fit at any time.

Changing the size in Step 3 resets the position, so pick your size first and fine-tune afterward. You can jump back to any earlier step using the numbered circles at the top.

  5. 5

    Save or share the image

    30 seconds

On the last screen, tap "Download" to save a PNG to your device. The button shows the image size, for example "Download (1080×1080)."

On a phone, "Share now" opens your device's share menu so you can send the image straight to Facebook, Messenger or another app. If your browser can't share files, the image downloads instead.

    • When posting on Facebook, the tool suggests the hashtags #RotaryD3860 #RIDistrict3860 #RotaryInternational #District3860 #PeopleOfAction.
    • Ask club members to repost from the club page so the image reaches more people.

The People of Action lockup, logo and clear space follow Rotary Brand Center rules and must not be edited, cropped or recolored after download.

  6. 6

Send it to District 3860 (optional)

    1 minute

Under "Send to District 3860," you can let the district keep a copy and possibly feature your story. Tap "Submit to District" to send the finished image.

To allow the district to use it in promotions, newsletters and bulletins, tick the consent box first. Three fields then appear: "Your email" (required), "Your Rotary club" and "Your name." Choosing your club lets the photo appear on your club's page once it's approved, and your name is shown with it as credit.

After you submit, a "Shareable link" to your image appears and is copied to your clipboard. District administrators are notified and review each submission.

    • Without the consent box ticked, the image is still sent, but your email, club and name are not recorded.
    • Only photos an administrator approves or features appear on a club's page, under "People of Action."

Tap "Start over" at the bottom to make another image for a different message or size.

Common questions

Images you make stay on your device unless you submit them. Submitted images are stored by Rotary District 3860 and reviewed by district administrators, who decide what is featured; your email, club and name are kept only if you give consent. Available messages, sizes and features may change.
